KVS Principal Syllabus and Exam Pattern 2023:  Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, which manages a chain of Central Government Schools across the country. Now Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has published Notification 2023 for the recruitment of Principal vacancies. Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan will conduct KVS Principal Recruitment CBT on 8th February 2023 on scheduled examination centres across India.   

The selection process of KVS Principal posts involves a written test followed by an interview. The written test (Computer Based Test- CBT) is meant to assess the candidate’s knowledge of educational management, leadership qualities, and administrative abilities. Interview:  The interview is of 60 marks (30+30). The candidate would be expected to present his/her vision for overall school improvement through a School Development Plan (could be based on the previous school served) (30 marks). Question—Answer/Interview round (30 marks)

Paper I

Part I: Proficiency in Languages

General English: Reading comprehension, word power, Grammar & usage with emphasis on communicative and administrative usage

General Hindi: पठन कौशल, शब्द सामर्थ्य, व्याकरण एवं प्रयुक्ति

Part II: Perspectives on Education and Leadership

(A) Perspectives in Education:

Role of school in achieving aims of education.

NEP-2020: Early Childhood Care and Education: The Foundation of Learning ; Foundational Literacy and Numeracy; Curriculum and Pedagogy in Schools: Holistic & Integrated Learning; Equitable and Inclusive Educa4tion: Learning for All; Competency based learning and Education.

Guiding Principles for Child Rights, Protecting and provisioning for rights of children to safe and secure school environment, Right of Children to free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009,

Historically studying the National Policies in education with special reference to school education;

School Curriculum Principles: Perspective, Learning and Knowledge, Curricular Areas, School Stages — Pedagogy & Assessment.

(B) Understanding the Learner

Concept of growth, maturation and development, principles and debates of development.

Development tasks and challenges with special reference to the primary and middle school children.

Domains of Development: Physical, Cognitive, Socio-emotional, Moral etc., deviations in development and its implications.

Role of Primary and Secondary Socialization agencies. Steps to ensure Home school continuity.

(C) Understanding Teaching Learning (30 questions)

Theoretical perspectives on Learning –Behaviorism, Cognitivism and Constructivism with special reference to their implications for:

I. Nature of teacher-student relationship

IV. The role of Principal

V. Choice of teaching methods

VI. The role of learner

VII. Understanding of discipline, power etc.

• Factors affecting learning and their implications for:

I. Creating learning spaces in school.

II. Planning student activities.

Ill. Designing classroom instructions.

Planning and Organization of Teaching-Learning

I. Concept of Syllabus and Curriculum, Overt and Hidden Curriculum, Instructional Plans: -Year Plan, Unit Plan, Lesson Plan, Preparation of School Time-table, Competency based Education, Experiential learning, etc., Foundational Literacy and Numeracy, Early Childhood Care and Education

II. Enhancing Teaching Learning processes: Classroom Observation and Feedback, Instructional material and resources

III. Assessment of learning, for learning and as learning: Meaning, purpose and considerations in planning each, Reflections and Dialogues as a means of constructivist teaching, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for teaching-learning 

(d) Creating Conducive Learning Environment

• Inclusive Education: The concepts of Diversity, disability and Inclusion, implications of disability as social construct types of disabilities-their identification and interventions

Concept of School Mental Health, addressing the curative, preventive and promotive dimensions of mental health for all students and staff. Provisioning for guidance and counselling.

Developing School and community as a learning resource.
