The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) conducts an Entrance test for admission to class 9th in Kendriya Vidyalayas across India. The exam pattern for KVS Admission in 9th class is as follows:
Exam Duration: The exam duration is 3 hours.
Exam Mode: The Entrance exam is conducted in offline mode.
Exam Pattern: The question paper consists of 100 marks with 5 sections- Hindi, English, Maths, Social Science and Science:
a) Part-I: 40 marks (Multiple Choice Questions)
b) Part-II: 40 marks (Multiple Choice Questions)
c) Part-III: 20 marks (Multiple Choice Questions)
Part-I: This section consists of questions from Mathematics (20 marks) and Science (20 marks).

KVS Online Application Form 2023-24 | Rules for COVID -19 Pandemic effected parents
According to KVS Admission Guideline 2023-24, The KVS to offer free admission for children who lost his/her parents {mother and father both} in COVID-19 Pandemic. As per the guidelines issued by the Centre, KVS has directed all Kendriya Vidyalayas in the country for admission of orphans who have been orphaned in the COVID-19 pandemic.
Admission of these children will be given under PM Cares for Children scheme. This decision has been taken by the Central Government with the aim of providing free proper education to the orphaned children. These KVS Admissions will be granted on the basis of the list provided by the DM {District Magistrate} of the concerned district subject to 10 kids per KV and maximum 02 kids per class.
These children would also receive free of cost education {Tuition fee, Computer fund, and VVN} from class1 to class 12. Another rules and regulation like Age Criteria, Educational Qualification and etc are same.

- Any Entrance test does not organized by KVS {Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan} for the admission in class 2nd to 8th.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Admission Process in class 9th
For Admission in class 9th, the Kendriya Vidyalaya entrance test will be taken by same Kendriya Vidyalaya where you want intake admission. After completion of Kendriya Vidyalaya Admission Test 2023-24, the merit list/ Kendriya Vidyalaya Admission List will be prepared as per your obtained marks in same exam. Then Kendriya Vidyalaya will issue Kendriya Vidyalaya admission List 2023-24 for admission in class 9th class.
Kendriya Vidyalaya Admission 2023-24: Admission Test
As per KVS Admission Guideline, for 9th class, admission will be done through Admission Test conducted by concern Kendriya Vidyalaya. Kendriya Vidyalaya Admission test shall be conducted in the subjects of Hindi, English, Maths, Social Science and Science.
Kendriya Vidyalaya Admission Test 2023-24: Exam Pattern
There will be only one paper in the Admission Test. The time allotted for KV Admission Test is 3 hours and 100 marks. In this Admission Test, Questions will be asked from Hindi, English, Maths, Social Science and Science. There will be 20 questions from each subject.
Students must got 33% marks in aggregate to qualify. SC/ST/Divyang category (PH) students will be eligible for admission on securing 25% in aggregate.
Kendriya Vidyalaya admission 2023-24 – Test Fee
No anyone entrance test fee will be charged by any Kendriya Vidyalaya of India. Entrance Test is conducted only for 9th class admission in Kendriya Vidyalaya.
Kendriya Vidyalaya Admission {Fresh} Process for Class X and XII
Those students {other than KV students} who want to take admission in class X or XII of Kendriya Vidyalaya. So their admission will be entertained subject to availability of vacancies. Such admissions to class X and XII will be considered by the Deputy Commissioner of the Region of the concerned Kendriya Vidyalaya, only if, the average strength in class X/XII is below 40. After this, admission will be done under below conditions:
- Student/Students has/have been in the same course of studies i.e. in a CBSE-affiliated school.
- For Class X, students must have passed class 9th with at least 55% marks
- For admission to class XII, the students must have got at least 55% marks in aggregate in class IX.
- Student should be eligible as per KVS admission guidelines 2022-23.
- The combinations of subjects opted by the student are available in the concern Kendriya Vidyalaya.
KVS Admission Process for class 11- Admission
Admission in class 11th will be granted on the basis of marks obtained by a student in class 10 in various streams like Science, Commerce, and Arts. Means the students of science stream in class 10 will be admitted in class 11 in science stream and students of art stream in class X will be admitted in same stream of class 11th. Hence, the KVS Admission Form for class 11 will be available after the announcement of the Class 10 result.
To get admission in various streams, students have to obtain minimum marks in the following streams in the respective streams.
- Science Stream: A minimum of 60% Marks in all subjects.
- Commerce Stream: A minimum of 55% Marks in all subjects.
- Humanities Stream: All students of KV if declared passed in the 10th exam.
Method of Admissions in Class XI KV Students
The method of admission to Class XI in Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) varies depending on the stream of study chosen by the student.
For Science stream, admission to Class XI is granted based on the student’s performance in the Class X Board examination. The cut-off percentage for admission to Science stream in KVs is decided by the school authorities based on the availability of seats and the performance of the students in the Class X Board examination.
For Commerce and Humanities streams, admission to Class XI is granted based on the merit of the students. The school authorities may conduct a written test or an interview to assess the aptitude and eligibility of the students for admission to these streams.
It is important to note that admission to Class XI in KVs is subject to the availability of seats in the respective streams. Therefore, meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee admission to Class XI in KVs.
